Two Adventist churches in NCD were recipients of two cheques totalling K150, 000 from the opposition last Sunday. The two were Gordon Seventh Day Adventist Church and Hiwik SDA Church just outside the city.
Leader of the opposition Belden Namah, while presenting the cheques, remarked that the government should give back to churches the blessings received.
He also mentioned that his Vanimo Green district has resolved to give 10 percent of its’ District Services Improvement Program funds to the work of churches.
“FORMER PREMIER ON PROPOSED LAE CITY COMMISSION” – Bethanie Harriman
A Former senior Morobean politician has come out strongly in support of a consultation between the NEC and the Morobe Provincial Executive Council. Premier and first Morobean Governor, Sir Jerry Nalau, says the PEC must be respected as the mandated leaders of the Morobe Province.
"I will support a consultation between the NEC and the Morobe Provincial Executive Council," he said. Morobe Governor Kelly Naru has clarified that he and his PEC have not agreed to the proposed Lae City Commission.
Nalau's stance comes after PEC members expressed frustration over the proposal that has already reached NEC Level. Lae MP Loujaya Kouza has been appointed Lae City Commission Chairperson.
Prime Minister Peter O'Neill was in Lae last week for dialogue with the Morobe Governor Kelly Naru and other PEC members.
