Police in Lae are investigating what appear to be a series of well-planned armed robberies.
Last week, the Freddie’s shopping center along Milfordhaven road was robbed of an unspecified amount of money.
Eye witnesses say armed men walked into the shop and held up unsuspecting staff and got away before customers realized what was happening.
On Friday, a taxi cab belonging to ark taxis was stolen. The driver was bound and held hostage for several hours.
It’s understood; the criminals used the vehicle to rob another business house.
Lae residents have raised concerns over the ability of police to conduct their duties.
