Central Province Liquor Ban

All liquor outlets in the Central province will be prohibited from selling alcohol as of the close of nominations on the 23rd of May 2012.  This is part of the nationwide liquor ban, following the issue of writs, marking the commencement of the National General Elections.

Acting Central Provincial Administrator Manasseh Rapila issued this stern warning for liquor shop owners to abide, or face penalty fines or imprisonment.

The ban is to protect and uphold the dignity of people by allowing them to hold and conduct a safe and free election without hassle from alcohol or drug induced individuals.

The ban will be lifted after the return of writs on the 27th of July 2012.
