Functions of the Morobe Provincial AIDS Committee Secretariat is one amongst many that is in the process of being removed from National AIDS Council Secretariat.
It comes following a decision made by NEC last year for HIV/AIDS responses to be dealt with under the Health Department through Provincial AIDS Committee Secretariats present at various provinces.
That decision is currently under process of being implemented by the Department of Health come end of this month.
The National AIDS Council Secretariat has been the key organisation in charge of coordinating, managing and monitoring HIV/AIDS matters for a very long time.
Its role will soon be shifted to the Health Department through provincial health units where all HIV/AIDS related matters would be dealt with at the provincial level.
