Sustainable Tourism for Samoa

by Juanita Nonwo – EM TV Online

Samoa is on a drive towards showcasing its beauty through sustainable tourism.

This came before the opening of the country’s first five-star hotel.

According to Sonja Hunter, Samoa Tourism CEO, the country will be looking forward in anticipation to more arrivals and superior products come 2016.

While speaking at the South Pacific Tourism Event that was held in Melbourne, Australia, Hunter mentioned that Samoa’s main focus will be on beauty.

“We have a beautiful country with beautiful people and that beauty comes from within, so we are focussing on cleaner villages – even cleaner than they already are – and harnessing that inner beauty of Samoa to showcase the product to the world,” Hunter says.

The tourism industry in Samoa will be expanding and by mid-2016 the Sheraton will have two of its properties in Samoa and the country’s other new five-star resort, Lemoana Resort, will go on-line.
