More than 300 residents of 4 Mile Danwaya Works Compound, evicted by police in August this year, have been displaced.
These residents are now living in makeshift tents along storm water drains, in the Boroko area. They are filthy and unhygienic conditions which pose many health risks for them.
Their condition is quite detrimental to their health, as they are exposed to dirt, rubbish and the dreadful smell from the drain.
The evicted residents claim that as a result of these harse conditions many of them have contracted sicknesses.
Tony Kori, a longtime resident living in the area since the 1980s had lost many personal properties worth thousands of kina due to the eviction.
According to community leader, Tony Kagl, they have prepared a submission to take this matter before the National Court.
Meanwhile, they are calling on their local MP to consider their ordeals and find amicable solutions to rectify them.
