Amini Boys to Follow in Father’s Footsteps

by Lorraine Genia – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

The 2015 Pacific Games will be a momentous occasion for Cricket PNG, but more so, for the Amini family.

Charles Amini, father of Charles Amini Jnr and Chris Amini, current Barramundi’s reps, was a part of the unforgettable victory from the 1991 Pacific Games, when cricket won Gold for Papua New Guinea.

Chris, who claims he will captain the side to victory in just two weeks’ time, says he and the team can win gold, and it makes it all the more easier having inspiration and drive come from someone so close to his heart.

Although the bar was set fairly high given their success from the 1991 Pacific Games, Charles Amini, who not only stands as one of Papua New Guinea’s cricket greats, but also a proud father, believes Chris can and will do the country proud, and take cricket one step further.
