The people of Kerema, Gulf Province have been suffering silently, due to political turmoil and landowner issue, being major obstacles for development.
Yesterday saw the turning point of these hindrances, when Kerema Coronation High School opened its first six block classrooms, two 80-man dormitories, with ablution blocks for both male and female students, and a computer lab.
These facilities with a total cost of K3 million, was funded by the national and the provincial governments of Gulf Province.
The buildings were officially opened by Gulf Governor, Havila Kavo, who challenged other political leaders of Gulf to serve the interest of the people, rather than their own political welfares.
Mr. Kavo made a commitment to continue expanding school facilities such as computer per student, mattresses for each student, including two new teachers’ houses in a few months.
The high school aims to change its status to ‘secondary school’ by 2017.
