Nautilus Talks Community Projects

NAUTILUS Minerals has started implementing projects it considers to be ‘community service responsibilities’, within the area of its Solwara 1 project.

In a media briefing today, PNG Country Manager, Mel Togolo, highlighted several projects under development, in the area of health, education and infrastructure along the West Coast of New Ireland.

The media, took the opportunity to pose questions on the environmental impact of the project, which will be the first of its kind, anywhere in the world.

With a set operational date of 2018, the main gist of today’s media briefing, was the developer’s health, education and infrastructure projects it has been implementing along the West Coast of New Ireland.

Other major updates, included a completion date of 2017 end for the Production Support Vessel of the project, and the completion of assembly and testing of the three main Seafloor Production Tools; the ‘Bulk Cutter’, ‘Auxilliary Cutter’, and the ‘Collecting Machine’.

“These are milestone achievements for the company, achievements which reiterate our commitment to successfully delivering the Solwara 1 Project to the people of Papua New Guinea,” Mr Togolo said.

Other updates to come out of today’s briefing, were that there would be no permanent camp set up on the mainland, and currently, there is a baseline survey being carried out on the Solwara 1 project area, to determine the levels of biodiversity there.
