PNG-AUS Police Partnership

The construction of the new multi-million kina Lae Central Police station is on schedule as part of the Australian- Papua New Guinea policing partnership program.  

Today, Lae Police top command took a tour of the modern operations facility building with members of the Australian Federal Police.   

Both the AFP Assistant Commissioner, Alan Scott, and Lae Metropolitan Superintendent, Iven Lakatani, say the partnership has helped improved some areas of logistics and infrastructure in the Lae Police.    

The new Central Police station is located in the centre of the City. It is the new face of the City’s Law and Justice Sector.

Its at its final stages of construction.  The new Lae Central Police station project costs K4 million.

The building due to be completed this month, is a two-story building which will house a state of the art operations room to help curb Lae’s crime problems.  

Today, Metropolitan Superintendent, Iven Lakatani was given a tour of the new office  accompanied by members of his senior command including the Lae Chamber of Commerce President, Alan McLay.

The tour of the construction phase came after a vehicle presentation today, as the vehicle will be used to transport prisoners for hearings and medical emergency.
