Moresby North East MP, Labi Amaiu, has questioned the integrity of the contractor for a substandard road network done on Erima to 9 mile road.
Mr Amaiu’s statement follows soon after the deteriorating sections of the recently K90 Million road project which was constructed this year.
Mr Amaiu who is also the vice minister for sports is passionate about the infrastructure development that is taking place in his Moresby North East electorate.
He said the road construction and building infrastructure development is in preparation for the Pacific Games, and the 2018 APEC Summit in 2018.
Mr Amaiu raised this concern after inspecting the recently completed road network where he observed early deteriorating signs.
He said there were potholes in the middle of the road and cracking signs of bitumen along the road side.
“While the National Government has invested millions of kina in this road infrastructure, there should be quality work done.”
The Member for Moresby North east reaffirmed that soon after this road project was opened last year, it was barely six months old that it shows cracking signs.
Meanwhile, he has informed Works Minister, Francis Awesa, through a letter expressing his dissatisfaction of the work done.
He also appealed to contractors in NCD to be passionate about their job and take heed of necessary measures while constructing road projects.
