PNG and Indonesia Sign MOUs for Technical Cooperation in Geoscience

Papua New Guinea and Indonesia signed a record of 11, Memorandums of Understanding for closer technical cooperation in geoscience, and associated fields.

The MOUs covered air transport arrangement, workers exchange, education, training, and petroleum and energy.

This will see geological work being done on PNG and Indonesia’s boarder for the next five years.

Mineral Resource Authority will take the lead with counterparts from the Indonesian Government. This will also see more research in resources between the border areas.

Mineral Resource Authority Managing Director, Philip Samar, said the 11 MOU’s signed will bring mutual understanding and sharing of knowledge, skills, capacity and technical cooperation between the two countries for sharing of resources and its benefits.

Mr Samar said, PNG and Indonesia have huge deposits of natural resources that are yet to be explored and put into benefit by developing it for the people of the Indonesia and PNG.

The MOU was signed in Indonesia recently.
