Public servants told to shape up or ship out

by Mickey Kavera – EM TV, Port Moresby

Public servants from Kiunga in the North Fly District, Western Province have been urged to perform this year.

Member for North Fly, Boka Kondra told public servants during his recent visit that public servants who fail to perform will be asked to leave. He said services have been delivered at an unacceptably slow rate.

“This must change this year and it all depends on public servants to deliver. We cannot continue to sit back and watch public servants doing nothing for the people.”

Acting District Administrator, Dumo Woo said his officers are ready and will be working closely with all stakeholders to change the outlook of public service in the North Fly district. He said their objective will be to focus on infrastructure development in the district.

However, public servants want their working conditions addressed.

They said the district administration must look at improving the welfare of public servants.

“We are willing to perform if given a conducive and motivating working environment,” said a commentator.
