Manus: Local Contractors to be Awarded K240 Million

Construction for the new Regional Processing Center (RPC) is currently underway in Manus Province.

The new camp will be located at the East of Lorengau Town and is contracted to Decmil Australia.

At the moment the refugees are residing at the Lombrum Naval Base. 

A lot of work is still underway to expand and upgrade the Lombrum RPC. Once the new camp at East Lorengau is completed, they will relocate there and the facilities will be given to the Naval Base.  

Construction work on the East Lorengau site has commenced, and is worth approximately K303 million. The overall value of subcontract work for this construction will be approximately K240 million.

Decmil Australia is the Managing Contractor for the East Lorengau site and will be offering tenders to local Sub-Contractors.

Work is still underway to expand and upgrade the Lombrum RPC and the Naval Base Barracks. Construction of the new site is expected to finish by the end of this year.

An additional K51 million under the development assistance package has been given to Manus. The Manus Provincial Government intends to channel the money into healthcare, education, roads and activities for youths.

Thirteen school kits will be built in schools around Manus. So far 7 have been completed. 

One million will be given to Lorengau Hospital for medical equipment and instruments.
