Art of Tang Soo Do Reappears

Overshadowed by dominant Martial Arts Codes of Taekwondo, Karate, Kickboxing and Boxing, Tang Soo Do is unknown to many.

John Aisi, a former student of the Art, revived the code in Port Moresby and hopes that it sparks interest around the country.

After 15 years, the Art of Tang Soo Do has seen a comeback in Port Moresby.

Like Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do also originates from Korea.

It is a mixed Martial Art code that contains techniques of Kung Fu from China.

Tang Soo Do has produced students that were able to compete in tournaments hosted by other disciplines of Karate and Taekwondo.

Tang Soo Do is mostly used by disciplinary forces all over the world, to equip their military personnel in self-defence situations, and has created a following among school-aged children and women in Port Moresby.

Like other sporting codes in the Country, Sensei Aisi also hopes to secure a corporate or government sponsor to support his fighters and the growth of the discipline.

He is enthusiastic and hopeful that his young and vibrant students will compete in the upcoming tournaments next month.
