Police Minister and Hengenofi Member of Parliament, Robert Atiyafa, has called for the termination of a contractor working on the Okuk Highway.
His call comes after; roadwork along the Okuk highway keeps coming undone.
He suggests district authorities should look after their sections of the Highway.
Minister Atiyafa is appalled by the work done a contractor.
A contractor tasked to fix the Okuk Highway.
He speaks as the member for Henganofi, and suggests that districts be given the task to fix their roads, because band-aid treatments to deteriorate areas keep coming undone because of poor maintenance work.
Minister Atiyafa is not the first Eastern highlands leader to voice this concern. Governor Julie Soso last year also raised the issue for the National Executive Council to consider.
Pressure now builds on the NEC to decide who maintains and fixes a vital lifeline for the seven Provinces of the highlands and its major mining projects.
