Round Two of Port Moresby Mens Softball League

Mr Bawa is calling on city residents to comply with laws in the city as there is already a buai ban in place.

“No police officer is above the law, I have no room for police officers who go about breaking laws. Any police officer who is seen smuggling beetlenut or receives bribes at the road blocks will be dealt with appropriately”, said Mr Bawa.

He said the public should also report any police personnel smuggling buai into the city so appropriate actions can be taken.

Mr. Bawa said people should not take risks crossing the Laloki River.

He said police have already been informed of tracks used by buai smugglers and those caught will be dealt with.

Police have also received reports of buai being smuggled from Kairuku to Manumanu and further into Lealea which eventually ends up in the city.

He said officers have been directed to also monitor this point.

Meanwhile he said the Central Provincial Government will issue permits to Central Province vehicles to bring buai from one part of the province to the other through the city.

He also warned city route buses to observe traffic rules and not to go into Central Province.
