Patel Set On Changing Telikom Work Ethic

TELIKOM PNG Board Chairman, Mahesh Patel, is adamant that Telikom PNG, can become a leader in the telecommunications industry in the country.

And whilst responding to claims by the PNG Communication Workers Union, Mr Patel, says, the new Telikom PNG Board, will continue its plans to restore discipline, and manage problem areas compounded over years by disconnection between the board, management, and rank and file of Telikom PNG.

The root of the problem, he says, is years of indiscipline amongst the rank and file, caused by management and staff under the tenures of previous boards, who made no attempt to truly understand the company, and the business.

Mr Patel is unwavered by recent union claims of micromanagement, and bypass of embedded lines of communication.

He told EMTV that as board chairman, he needed to truly understand the business and the work ethic of Telikom staff, to identify areas of potential development and progress.

He says, Telikom has some of the best engineers in the country, and what now needs to be done, is to restore discipline, and proper work ethic.
