The Morobe Provincial Government has responded to tertiary students’ complaints on fee cuts for scholarships at higher learning institutions.

Governor, Kelly Naru, today announced K1.5 million has been added to a K3.5 million allocated by PEC this year for scholarship programs.

Students are now entering late registation for the 2016 academic year.

Following complaints by Morobe tertiary students over the past weeks over fee cuts on the Gerson Solulu Scholarship Scheme, their queries were answered after a petition was presented to Morobe PEC this morning.

The petition contained students’ demands for an increase in scholarship funds by another K1.5 million and a review of scholarship officers at the provincial administration.

They were told by members of the PEC to that a portion of PSIP funds will be used to make up for the shortfall in this year’s scholarships.

The PEC sponsors Morobe students with up to K4 million every year.

This year the scholarships were cut by at least K500,000.

All TESAS students including the lot in self- sponsored categories have been assured that their fees will be paid for by the Morobe Provincial Government.
