Enga Governor, Sir Peter Ipatas, is calling on students of the University of Papua New Guinea and other institutions to return to class.
“I call on students to return to class and fulfill their dreams,” Sir Ipatas said.
Sir Ipatas said the current unrest by students is unnecessary and is politically motivated.
His call comes as students in higher learning institutions rally to boycott classes if Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, declines to step down and re-instate the National Fraud and Anti-Corruption Directorate.
He reiterated that the current turn of events for the Prime Minister to step-down and the alleged millions involved in the Paraka Saga are issues for the justice system to dwell on.
“Let the courts decide on that matter and not for students to make comments”, Ipatas added.
The Engan, three time Governor, threw his support behind Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, stating the PM is following proper procedures and there is no need for Mr O’Neill to stepdown.
He says if the Prime Minister steps down, no alternate Government is inplace to take the country forward.
The Engan Governor was backed by two Wabag MPs, Robert Ganim, and Kompiam Ambum MP, John Pundari.
