Soccer star, Alwin Komolong has been juggling responsibilities as a Pacific Games ambassador

by Lorraine Genia – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

Alwin Komolong has been juggling responsibilities as a Pacific Games ambassador, and a lead prospect of the National Soccer League for the past year.

Komolong has a wealth of international experience, having played college football in the United States of America.

He has returned home to Madang to boost the morale of local NSL club Madang FC, and for the opportunity to represent Papua New Guinea at the Olympic Games.

Being a Games Ambassador, is not all glitz and glamour, and the occasion chit chat with the media.

Alwin says, one of his responsibilities is giving an in-depth view, and an insight into how the athletes are preparing for the Games.

Alwin’s soccer success has been generated since birth. Straight out of high school, he’d won himself a scholarship in Kentucky, in the USA. Alwin had to take leave from the States, to state his claim in the PNG National Team.

With both a bit of international exposure and experience abroad, Alwin makes for a perfect contribution to the PNG u23’s side, as they prosper to win Gold.

While the team is yet to be finalised for the Pacific Games, quietly confident Alwin remains hopeful.
