Moanna Pisimi fare-welled

by Sylvester Gawi – EM TV, Lae

The late Moanna Pisimi was fare-welled this morning at a funeral at St Andrews Lutheran Church in Lae.

Morobe Governor Kelly Naru was given the opportunity to hand over the casket of Moanna to her in-laws for burial at Ialibu, Southern Highlands province.

Governor Naru says he still maintains his call for justice for Moanna’s shooting and the killings that shocked Lae City this year.

Friends and relatives gathered this morning to bid farewell to Moana Pisimi, one of several victims of killings that occurred in Lae over the New Year period.

Her immediate family members are still coming to terms with the loss. The story behind her fatal shooting is still under police investigation. Morobe Governor Kelly Naru still calls for justice to prevail, to bring an end to the grieving relatives.

While many of Morobe’s political leaders remain silent over the killings, Governor Naru is concerned about the growing lawlessness in Lae City.

Having more than 10 reported cases of murder within the first two weeks of 2015 is a serious law and order problem.

Kelly Naru is calling for public cooperation; residents must take ownership of Lae’s law and order problem.

With the influx of people moving into Lae and the expansion of business and industrial activities, the government’s responsibility is to maintain a free and safe environment.

Kelly Naru says his government wants to ensure law and order problems do not get out of hand in Lae City.
