Thirteen cows have been presented to families of police personnel in all nine Port Moresby Barracks, by the NCD Metropolitan Commander.
These cows were given as a gift to express thanks and appreciation for the families of police officers who supported them in their work in 2014.
The distribution of cows throughout the nine Port Moresby Barracks took an entire day, beginning with families at the dog unit, McGregor, Gordons and later, other barracks.
The cows were distributed according to the number of families living in each barracks. At some barracks, the visit was unexpected and families were caught off-guard.
Tokam Barracks in Morata, however, organised a massive celebration to welcome the NCD Metropolitan Command.
A number of spokespersons from different barracks echoed the sentiment, saying the event was a unique opportunity to receive the head of the NCD Command and all his eight station commands into their homes, including the Superintendent for Operations and Administration.
During the visit, wives of police officers raised concerns about the deteriorating state of their houses.
