2016 Trukai Field Day At Erap Farm

Over 1,500 people attended the Trukai Field Day recently at the company’s Erap farm.

The day promoted Papua New Guinea’s agricultural sector, and Trukai’s involvemen’s in rice cultivation development involving landowner cooperatives, who took center stage at the field day.

Among the many highlights was Trukai announcing its continued support for women in agriculture.

“The support is for their administrative functions and for other things they want to do, it’s the fourth payment in a five year deal,” said Trukai Agricultural Manager, Jarrod Pirrie.

The deal was part of a five year agreement worth K200,000, and this is the fourth installment of K40,000.

Trukai’s field is beginning to attract many participants in the Papua New Guinea Agricultural Sector.

The field day saw many business houses display what they had to offer in sector that is expected to grow, with increasing budget allocation from the national government.

Under the main arena tent the political presence was felt with Agriculture Minister, Tommy Tomscoll, Oro Governor, Gary Juffa, Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru and Nawaeb MP, Gisuwat Siniwin attending the day.

In the stall were the companies prompting their products, as well as cooperatives partnering with Trukai, showing the machinery and training they have received from various experts.
