By Elijah Lavett – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

PNG Netball announced a 29-member training squad for the Papua New Guinea under 21 team, after a training camp was held during the Easter weekend.

The camp was conducted by PNG’s national team, the Pepes, and Head Coach, Unaisa Rokoura.

The four-day program saw over 60 players taking part.

The train on squad will join the current High Performance Training Program in preparation for the next selection camp scheduled for June 2016.

According to the President of PNG Netball, the Board is pleased with the high interest and turn out of junior players participated in the four-day program.

The program was further complemented by the engagement of the current Pepes players, who were able to use this program to impart their skills, knowledge and share their experiences with aspiring players.

A further assessment will commence on this current squad in June and based on the outcome of the valuation, the squad will then be trimmed down to a final 20 member squad.

The final 12-member squad will be selected in August this year to participate at the Regional World Cup Qualifying tournament in Auckland, New Zealand in September.
