National Souths Basketball League Launched

By Mae Koime – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

The 9th National Souths Basketball Tournament was launched by Sport and Tourism Minister, Justin Tkatchenko, and NCD Governor, Powes Parkop, at the Taurama Aquatic Centre.

The tournament will run over the Easter Weekend.

The National Souths Basketball League was formed in 2013 and the first game was played in Mendi Town.

This basketball competition was created to stop the Southern Highlanders from being involved with tribal fights and to unite the teams.

Sixteen teams will be participating in this competition.

This will be the 4th time for the National Souths Basketball League to host this tournament.
