Sohe District Road Links Vital

By Fabian Hakalits – EM TV News, Port Moresby

Sohe District in Northern province will be connected through road networks aimed to bring services right through to people’s doorsteps.

Local MP, Delilah Gore, is adamant that good road infrastructure will drive changes for people to participate in economic activities.

This is an investment of the Sohe District Development Authority that is aimed to improve road infrastructure, because it believes in change.

Maintaining existing roads and building new roads are key elements to connect all wards to the main trunk road, including feeder roads.

Sohe Development Corporation Limited has been engaged as contractor, working day and night to deliver these road projects.

The excitement was seen when Sohe MP, Delilah Gore, recently inspected the road projects.

“With good road infrastructure, people access services and partake in developmental activities.

“It’s almost 14 kilometers. The Sasendata to Kendata is 4 kilometres and work is progressing. We are close to Mount Lamington and this is a disaster road so we are ensuring that we build good roads,” Gore said.

“We bring good development to these areas, so that the national government can allow more development to come,” she added.

The Tara–Puri Road budgeted on one K1 million is a new ten-kilometre road.

“This is the area has a bigger population. This area separates the border between Kokoda and Higaturu Local Level Government,” Gore said.

Locals thanked the Sohe District Development Authority and Member of Parliament, for the partnership that has ended their days of struggle.

We spoke to a local from Cindarella Kione and Chief from Mumuni, Redman Deiko, who said they are so happy to see such change that has not happened before.

One big challenge during development activities is demand of compensation payment and locals have been urged to stop this habit, which is a hindrance.
