IBS College of TVET 27th Graduation

The Institute of Business Studies College of TVET (Technical Vocational Educational Training) held its 27th graduation at 6 Mile, Magila Street, Port Moresby, last Friday.

The college graduated 181 students with certificates in Accounting, Business, Information Technology and in Human Resource Management levels three and four.

In line with the institute’s theme; ‘Empowering Young Business Minds’, keynote speaker, Mr. Luke Ambu, who’s the Group HR Manager for the Institute of Business Studies, told the students to excel in the business trade.

“You cannot depend on one income”, he said, and went on to express the expenses involved in real life and how they should pursue other means of earning an income as well.

Included in his speech, Mr. Ambu told the story of how the Institute of Business Studies came about because Mick Nades, the founder, took a risk to start up something.

He briefly spoke of how the Sri Lankan founder of IBS gave up his job as an accountant to take up education back in 1989 because of his desire to inspire knowledge.

The institute has been elevated to university status as of  2016, its vision is to ‘enrich lives through world-class education, training, and research’.
