JCI Storm has been crowned champions of this year’s Ilimo Dairy Hiri East Rugby League competition.

The Storm edged out Barakau Dugongs 16 points to 12 in the A grade division.

The Finals were played at Gaire Village in the Central Province. It was a hard fought match between both sides.

The Storm dominated in attack, but the dugongs were brutal in defence. But the cracks began to show, and the Storm were able to score 3 tries, with a missed conversion kick.

The Dugongs tried to fight back by scoring 2 tries, but it wasn’t enough to get them the win.

In the day’s earlier match, Lakwaharu Raiders beat Rocher Spartans 6 points to nil in the Under 20 division.

Medals and trophies were presented to the premiers and special category winners by Ilimo Dairy Director Nao Badu.

The Ilimo Dairy-sponsored event saw workers conduct awareness on nutritional benefits and share other information with the locals’ during the finals.

The tournament ran for 4 months with Ilimo Dairy supporting the event as a way of helping local initiatives such as the Hiri East Rugby League Competition.
