The University Rugby Union Club (UniRUC), University Piggies have beaten the Moni Plus Nova, 10-5, in the first round of quarterfinals in the Under 19 division of the Capital Rugby Union competition over the weekend (28 July 2018).

The University Piggies were first to score through their eight-ball, Mauwi Kula, who broke Nova’s defence to take his side to a 5-0 lead.

University’s Norman Peter, however, missed the conversion.

Nova retaliated with a try few minutes after to level the score 5-5.

With two failed conversions, both sides went into half-time 5 all.

It was a tough second half as both sides showed class and maturity in their defence.

A knock-on by Nova in their own half saw University scoring their winning try off a scrum through winger Jason Abraham.

The University will go head to head with the first place Valley Hunters next weekend.

The second Under 19 match saw Juggernauts beating Wanderers over ‘coin toss’, after both sides were locked at 3-3 after extra time.
