1,300 Illicit Materials Destroyed Outside Port Moresby

The Office of Censorship, in partnership with the National Drug and Vice Squad (NDVS) and members of the Boroko Magisterial Services, destroyed over 1,300 illicit materials in a bonfire last Friday (June 29), including over 9.5 kilograms of marijuana.

The illicit materials included pornographic magazines, multiple DVD’s and Sex Enhancement Products (SEP).

The pornographic materials were confiscated by the Enforcement & Compliance Division (ECD) of the Office of Censorship during their daily operations. The stockpiles of marijuana were confiscated by the NDVS and others taken from the exhibits of the Boroko Magisterial Services.

ECD Acting Manager Poveta Posa, acknowledged the assistance of police officers, the Censorship team and PNG Customs in supporting one of ECD’s key priority areas.

Sergeant Thomas Moiyang from NDVS and Senior Magistrate for Boroko District Court Rosemary Koimo, witnessed the destruction of the materials outside Port Moresby.
