Wewak Auditions Vocal Fusion Season 5

Vocal Fusion’s first ever stop for its Season 5 competition in the legendary town of Wewak, East Sepik Province had been rewarding after four local talents won themselves golden tickets to compete with other talents from around the country in Port Moresby.

The four golden ticket winners include Andy Kamaso, Nathan Aaron, Sterling Warren and Leo Kapmapi.

Kamaso is a third-year student at the University of Goroka who sung ‘Love Yourself’ and ‘One Call Away’ by Justin Bieber and Charlie Putt respectively during the audition.  He also has a music background in piano and drums.

Wewak’s second golden ticket winner Aaron, is the Provincial Works Programmer attached with East Sepik Province Department of Works. During his auditions, he sang beautifully the songs ‘Yesterday’ by Beatles and ‘I’ll Rise Up’ by Andra Day from the album ‘Cheers to the Fall’.  Aaron is a musician with the ‘Sons Arise Band’.

Third golden ticket winner for Wewak, Warren is from Angoram in the East Sepik Province. Warren who is the first born in a family of four has a bit of experience singing with Avisat Band of Wewak as a guest vocalist and he plays guitar.

When asked about his musical background, the musicophile has this to say; “Coming from a non-musical family, but mi laikim tru lo mekim music na wanpla taim get through the music main stream, and I believe Vocal Fusion bai helpim me moa yet.”

Vocal Fusion being for anyone who can sing, age was not a problem to Kapmapi who effortlessly beat his way to the top to win himself a golden ticket among many young guns with Shane Ward’s ‘Melt the Snow’. He is Wewak’s final golden ticket winner for Season 5 of the Vocal Fusion competition and a music teacher by profession.

The Wewak team are now in Port Moresby to compete with the other talents from around PNG.
