Tubuseria Women Complete Filleting Skills Training

The Lakwaharu Women in Fisheries group in Central Province have completed their fish filleting training.

The completion of the training, under the Ginigoada Life skills Program, brings them closer to becoming experts in fish filleting.

The women say their dream of establishing a small scale fish filleting processing plant at Tubuseria is nearing its achievement.

Their families catch fish every day and sell them for income, however acquiring the skill of filleting not only brings hope of more economic benefits, but skills development.

Four other groups of women in Hanubada, Porebada, Boana and a group in Lae is also doing a similar training.

About 100 women in this project are supported by the Asian Development Bank.

The program is working across the Pacific to improve the business environment. It seeks to make it easier to open and build new businesses, and expand domestic and foreign investment in Pacific economies.

The program is now in its third phase.
