57th Goroka Show Attracts Thousands

For more than 50 years,&nbspthe Goroka show has been one ofthe events thatthe Eastern Highlands Provincial government has used to generate internal revenue for the province.

 

The 57th Goroka show held overthe weekend has again provern that Eastern Highlands province still is one ofthe top tourist destinations inthe country.

Despitethe Beack Cat Track incident,the Eastern Highlands Governor, Julie Soso said tourism will continue to be supported asthe main revenue driver for the province.

 

The Goroka Show remains a major event for the Eastern Highlands province.

 

A significant portion of its estimated five hundred thousand people and many more from ther six Highlands provinces, Madang and Morobe came tothe show.

 

The show has also opened doors toInternational visitors. Many international tourists made prior arrangements two years ago to come to this show.

 

The Easter Highlands Governor says that tourism industry ofthe province looks promising.

Eighty-thousand tickets were sold atthe gate, but that doesn’t count additional funding that came from various business houses inthe province to runthe show.

 

Those inthe informal sector also made a lot of revenue as well duringthe show.
