Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, today announced a funding arrangement of USD$500 million for the upgrade and repair of Papua New Guinea’s Highlands Highway.
Prime Minister O’Neill when responding to a question raised in Parliament today, told parliament of an arrangement with the Asian Development Bank.
He further announced a K450 million funding from JICA for roads in East New Britain, West New Britain, New Ireland and the Nazab airport.
He called on all Member of Parliament, both open and regional members to put their Service Improvement Program Funds to partner with the national government in building and maintain road infrastructures in the province.
Parliament was also informed that India will be joining the list of development partners which PNG already has like the World Bank, JICA and the Asian Development Bank.
He said PNG is in the process of signing final agreemen’s for the third Multitranche Financing Facility for the ADB loan.
