2016 TNT National Short Course Swimming Championships

Port Moresby and Lae-based swimmers are all ready to attend the TNT Short Course Swimming Championships from the September 30 to October 2, with the event to be hosted in Port Moresby.

Swimmers based overseas will also attend the event, all taking part in their respective races. Swimmers will compete in their individual events in all four strokes, from freestyle to breaststroke, butterfly, backstroke and individual medley events.

This event is believed to see swimmers race towards breaking their personal best times, while hoping to capture PNG records in the process.

In line with the event, selections for the 13th FINA Short Course Championships in Canada will be made, which will give the swimmers the opportunity to make the squad, from December 5-11, this year.

This will also give the swimmers the chance to swim qualifying times to secure a spot on the National BSP Aquatic Excellence Squad.

Meanwhile, swimmers from Boroko Swimming Club are training hard for the event, while the Lae team, under the guidance of their respective coaches, is preparing to race fast over the weekend competition.

The competition will run under the FINA rules for all swimmers to showcase their talents in the pool.
