The 14th Papua New Guinea Mining & Petroleum Investment Conference is set to happen in Sydney, Australia from the 5th – 7th December 2016.
Organized by the PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum, the conference and its accompanying finance and technical seminars are expected to attract over 1,000 delegates.
A key area of interest will be the second LNG project now taking shape with the Total-led Papua LNG Project.
Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, is expected to give the keynote address. Treasurer, Patrick Pruaitch; Mining Minister, Byron Chan ; and Petroleum Minister, Nixon Duban, are also expected to make presentations.
Petroleum companies like Oil Search, Horizon Oil, and Twinza Oil; and mining companies like Harmony Gold SEAsia, Nautilus Minerals, and Barrick are all expected to give presentations on project updates and opportunities.
Mining and petroleum companies are facing difficult times with lower commodity prices. Despite this, it is anticipated that the conference theme of “Delivering on Growth Opportunities” will underpin the confidence in some of the big projects because of their long term outlook.
