The people of East Sepik province have been assured by Israeli investor, Innovative Agro Industry.
The investor has committed to invest and develop several agriculture and farming projects on the Sepik Plains, which is high on the government’s list of priorities.
“We are committed to the development of this land. We are not only coming to develop, we are coming as an investor. We are putting our money where our mouth is”, said Mr Crystal, CEO of the Innovative Agro Industry.
With government spending large sums of money on food imports, the approach by the investor and the government, is a great opportunity that will create thousand job opportunity for the locals, promote wealth creation and replace food imports.
Project development includes an egg laying farm, broiler meat farm, grain production and a modern cocoa plantation using Israeli technology to produce 400-500 percent more yield.
The project will also see a state-of-the-art training facility to provide training and extension services to the farmers around the area.
With this step taken, Minister for National Planning and Monitoring, and Member for Yangoru-Saussia, Hon Richard Maru said the government is looking to partner more investors for the Sepik Economic Zone. (SEZ)
Works for the project developments will commence soon.
