Torres Locals To Benefit From Post Office And Western Union Facility

by Marie Kauna – EMTV Online, Port Moresby

Service delivering and development is a major challenge faced by many. In developing countries, this is a major challenge.

Like Papua New Guinea, such is the case for the locals of Torres islands. Torres group of Islands are located in the Torba Province of Vanuatu.

With efforts to bringing services to the locals, the Minister for agriculture, Christopher Emelee, has signed an agreement with Vanuatu Post, to establish a post office and a Western Union link.

The signed agreement has finally seen the establishment of the two facilities on Hiu Island, the largest island.

The people of the Torres group of islands will now finally benefit from these two important facilities and the services they will provide.

Minister Emelee says, not having had the facilities is one of the reasons why government employees didn’t want to go work at these areas.

The two facilities will link Torres to the rest of Vanuatu and the outside world.
