This agreement was signed today by Acting Minister for Petroleum and Energy, Ben Micah, and ExxonMobil PNG Managing Director, Peter Graham.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill was present to witness the signing of the MoU, and congratulated all parties who worked together to develop this agreement.
Under the MoU, ExxonMobil PNG, operator of the PNG-LNG Project will provide up to 75 megawatts of electrical power for Port Moresby.
The first 25 megawatts of power are expected to commence in June this year, with a further 50 megawatts within the NCD power grid by the end of the year.
The agreement will also see increased power supply to the Hides area in Hela, as well as parts of the Southern Highlands Province, where the main gas fields for the PNG-LNG Project is located.
