Solar Rice Mill to help Menyamya Rice Farmers to cut Costs and increase Production

By Lucy Kopana – EMTV News, Lae

Rice farmers in the Menyamya District have been growing the crop for more than 15 years, however they’ve faced problems with milling their locally grown rice.

A rice farmer, Jolam Andrews says, they’ve had to bring their rice to NARI, to mill, for them to take back to Menyamya.

Yesterday, they were given a solar rice mill funded under the Australia-PNG incentive fund program.

The farmers said, this will help in cutting costs and increase local rice production.
