The 2015 Pacific Games will be promoted by the National Flag carrier Air Niugini, both domestically and internationally.
Board Chairman Sir Frederick Raia says the regional event coincides with PNG’s 40th Anniversary, and the National Airline is happy to market the event.
The popular yellow lagatoi with red, green, black and blue colours capturing the games spirit and PNG; is now visible on two Boeings’ 737 and a Fokker 100 aircraft.
Present at the launching yesterday, was Public Enterprises and State Investments Minister Ben Micah, Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko, and Partner Organizations Officials.
Chairman Raia said Air Niugini will also be responsible for the athletes, and their cargo movements.
Meanwhile, Air Niugini’s fleet modernization will see the Boeing Aircraft’s upgrading under the retrofit program, to be completed before the Pacific Games.
The 737 P2-PXE is the first that has recently returned with the refurbished interior.
This includes the seating arrangements, inflight entertainment system, toilets and gullies.
The 2015 Pacific Games will be held in Port Moresby from July 4 to 18 next year.
22 countries will compete across 28 sporting codes.
