Pari hostPNG Weightlifting Challenge

A weightlifting challenge was held at Pari Village overthe weekend as part oPNG Weightlifting’s development program.

It was a change of venue forthPNG Weightlifting federation as Pari Village played host to a weightlifting challenge for the juniors andthe seniors.

Such competitions laythe foundation for a good crop of future lifters to realisetheir goals moving forward.

President ofthPNG Sport Federation and Olympic Committee anPNG Weightlifting Sir John Dawanincura saystheir target isthe 2016  Rio Olympics withthe Oceania and Mini Games as a lead up.

He says it takes ten thousand hours or eight years to develop sports men and women from grassroots to elite.

Sir John is also urging all weightlifting clubs and associations take heed ofthe constitution and conform to it.

He sayPNG weightlifting knows wherethey have to do and it’s just a matter of what to do to getthere.

All in allthPNG Weightlifting federation has expressed many thanks to official sponsors Trukai industries for their backing overthe years, and tothe elders of Pari village for hosting this weekend’s challenge.
