Round five of the Polio Vaccination Campaign in the Morobe Province began yesterday. According to the Morobe Provincial Program Advisor for Health, Micah Yawing, the delay of the rollout was due to funding issues. However, he said medical teams were in full swing today, with the aim to reach the same target as last year.
Teams will be stationed in central residential areas this week and will extend to schools next week. Mr. Yawing confirmed that outreach teams have also commenced vaccinations in remote areas of the province. Apart from polio vaccinations, medical teams will also be providing routine immunizations, specifically for infants.
