PNG Air: Flights to Misima Resume

Flights operated by PNG Air into Misima in Milne Bay Province have resumed.

This has been confirmed by Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Abbot.

After a site inspection was conducted on the airstrip, normal scheduled flights resumed yesterday.

“A site inspection has been conducted on the airstrip and it is now deemed safe to resume operations.”

PNG Air cancelled all their scheduled flight services into Misima Island, since Monday this week, due to adverse weather conditions.

The bad weather condition has caused damage to the runway perimeter.

The situation was monitored until yesterday when it was granted the approval to resume flight operations.

However PNG Air has maintained safety as paramount in its business operations.

“We apologise to any passenger affected by the recent closure but stress, that safety will always be the primary concern for the airline when making these decisions.”
