The Penrith Panthers team will be sending some of their players to take on the PNG Hunters on February 6, at the National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
While an exciting Panthers side goes to battle in the Auckland Nines, a second star-studded team will be in Port Moresby.
February 6 2016 will mark the opening of the National Football Stadium, with the first match to be played between the Panthers and Hunters.
PNG Hunters Chairman, Graham Osborne, thanked the government and Oil Search for giving the Hunters the opportunity to officially open the stadium.
On the same weekend, in New Zealand, 18 of their Panthers teammates will take part in the annual Nines tournament.
Panther’s coach, Anthony Griffin, ensured the club’s talent is shared between the squad, boasting a combination of youth and experience.
Over the next four days the full squad lists for both the PNG Hunters showdown and the Auckland Nines will be released. Jamie Soward, Wellington Albert and Josh Hall are a few Panthers players that will take on the Hunters.
