Pacific MMI Lewas Return Home

By Elijah Lavett – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

The Pacific MMI Lewas returned to a family welcome in Port Moresby, after finishing with back to back victories over Samoa, this week.

Led by Captain, Pauke Siaka, and top batsman Tanya Ruma, the PNG team outclassed their opponents with a combined 18 wickets over two T20 matches.

The Pacific MMI PNG Lewas have maintained their winning streak against the Samoan Womens Cricket Team by defeating them in the last of the two T20 matches, which finished yesterday in Apia, Samoa.

Coach, Rodney Maha, was pleased with the team’s performance stating that they are now more confident and focused to take on the Samoans come the Pacific Games in July.

However, Team Manager, Iammo Launa, said the team did not perform as well as they could have.

This is the first competition the Pacific MMI Lewas have competed in, since the East Asia Pacific tournament in Japan, last year.

With five weeks left before the Pacific Games, the team will not be travelling overseas for training and competition, but will be in Port Moresby preparing for July.
