New Acting Judges for National Court of Jusice

In a brief ceremony yesterday morning, two Magistrates, Lova Geita and Peter Toliken took their new posts respectively, the Declaration of Office, Declaration of Loyalty and Judicial Declaration before Governor General His Excellency Grand Chief Sir Michael Ogio at the Government House at Konedobu.

Both gentlemen were appointed Acting Judges of the National Court of Justice for a term of 12 months commencing May 16th 2012. The official swearing in was witnessed by Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia, Deputy Chief Justice Gibbs Salika, fellow judges and family member of the two acting judges.

Of the two, Judge Geita has served as a Magistrate for 29 years. As the first man from Kirakira village to become a law graduate and later on an acting judge from the Koita tribe of Kirakira, he says it was a proud and historical moment for him and his family, and especially for the people of Koita tribe, to be given this post.
