Map Sentas yesterday won the Lae Football Association’s (LFA) Mairobs Easter Cup after defeating Pascols 3-0 in the grand final held at the LFA grounds in Lae.
The first half of the match saw a number of attacking exchanges from both teams.
13 minutes out from half time, Francis John of Map Sentas overpowered the Pascols defence to put through the first goal.
Pascols’ Sailas Akoi was awarded a yellow card before heading into half time, which added further frustration to a team that was already suffering from the pressure being placed upon them by the Sentas attack.
Two minutes into the second half, Map Sentas scored their second goal through Joshua Panget to increase their lead to 2-0.
Not long after their second goal, Sentas very nearly struck again. A penalty shot was only stopped by the quick hands of the Pascols goalkeeper, denying Sentas another goal.
Pascols attempted to break through Map Sentas goal line defence but continued to be unsuccessful.
Hezron Dairus put in their third goal in the 70th minute, to ensure the victory for Sentas and see them go home 3-0 winners.
