This comes after awareness by church leaders, government officers, police and other community-based groups.

 

West New Britain Governor, Sasindran Muthuvel praised the youths for their initiative, saying this will create a better place for everyone to live in.

 

He said youth in the area are notorious for committing crimes, and this is a turning point where other youths around the town should see and follow.

 

Governor Muthuvel also extended his thank you to all the community leaders, ward members, church elders and representatives, Police Officers and other elites within the area who stepped in to give their support.

 

The Youths who call themselves ‘Poponge Lechi Bechi Youths’ of Section 21, 525 Sepik Community, have come together to form a youth association comprising of youths who have a common goal of maintaining good order in the community, and one of their recommendation as a result of a recent association meeting is to carry out the surrendering of illegal weapon and item operations.

 

The weapons surrender ceremony will also include drugs and home brewing equipment brought forward to the police and community leaders.
